Hey everyone! I dropped my old phone in the pool, and now it just shows a white screen when I try to turn it on. I can't reset it or access anything on it. I'm hoping to recover my data without needing to access the old phone. What can I do?

Sorry to hear about your phone! First things first, do you know if your old phone was backing up to something like iCloud or Google Drive? If so, there might be a way to pull that data from the cloud instead of the phone itself. Check those accounts to see if there's a backup available.
Definitely a tough spot! If you have an iPhone, you'll need to restore your new device from a backup, but that does mean erasing your current phone first. Just head to settings and find the option for restoring from a backup. If you're using a different phone, the steps might differ, but checking your settings or the manufacturer's support site should point you in the right direction!
If you didn't have any recent backups, that’s a bit trickier. You might want to look into professional data recovery services. They can sometimes retrieve data from damaged devices, but it can be pricey, and there's no guarantee it will work. Also, remember that many of your contacts and app data may be saved in the cloud, so logging into your Google or Apple accounts could help you recover some of it!

Thanks for the tip! I found a recent iCloud backup. Do I really need to reset my current phone to restore it?
