I just got a notification that my OneDrive was nearing its storage limit, but I don't even use it. So, I went to the website and found that it was backing up my desktop and other folders without me realizing it. I didn't want that, so I deleted everything I saw. Now, I'm seeing that it's still almost full. I emptied the recycle bin, and when I checked my desktop afterwards, all my files were gone. I've searched for solutions online, but everything suggests restoring from the recycle bin, which I've already emptied. Is there any way to get my lost files back?

To recover your deleted files from OneDrive, start by signing into the OneDrive website. Look for the Recycle Bin option on the left-hand side. If you still can’t find your files there, scroll to the bottom for the Second-stage recycle bin link, where your deleted files might be. Select them and hit Restore. If that doesn’t work, you could try using a data recovery tool like Recuva to see if it can find anything that hasn’t been overwritten yet. Also, if you rarely use OneDrive, consider uninstalling it to prevent future mishaps.
It sounds like you actually did use OneDrive, but you might not have realized it. Check the recycle bin online—some users tend to miss it. Just remember, if you deleted items from OneDrive, those changes are synced across devices, meaning they’re probably gone for good unless you find them in your backup.

When was your last backup? If it’s not in the OneDrive recycle bin and you don’t have any backup saved, you’re likely out of luck. For next time, it’s essential to back up your files regularly, whether on an external drive or a different cloud service. Remember, having multiple backup systems can save you from this kind of stressful situation in the future!
I think I’m just out of luck here. I was still editing some files, so they weren’t backed up yet. I’m trying Recuva but don’t have much hope.

I don’t see the Second-stage recycle bin option! I’m going to give Recuva a try now.
