I need some help. My Xbox account was hacked while I was distracted playing online chess, and my son really wanted new Fortnite skins. Without thinking, I gave him my account details, including my full name and Gmail address, and he provided the Xbox device ID they needed. Now I feel really stupid for letting that happen!
I've tried to recover my Microsoft account through the recovery page but haven't heard anything back for about a week. Am I out of luck or is there hope? Has anyone else gone through this?

Sorry to hear about your situation! It's a frustrating experience. Instead of being too hard on yourself, maybe take this as a learning moment for your son regarding online safety and scams. He might need to be grounded for a bit until he gets the hang of it!
Man, that's a tough lesson learned. But it might help to teach your son how to recognize scams next time. Stay firm with him; he should understand the gravity of sharing sensitive info. Also, contacting support as often as possible is crucial. Let us know how it goes!
It’s key to keep contacting support. They’re likely busy, so persistence is your best bet. Just keep following up until you get a resolution. Good luck!
You're not alone in this; account recovery can take time. Microsoft’s process is often slow, especially if the scammer changed your recovery info as soon as they got access. Many people have shared that they had to submit the recovery form multiple times, each time including extra details like console serial numbers and billing history. It usually requires persistence, so don't get discouraged.
When you reach out to support, be polite but firm. Make sure to express that you're not giving up until you reach someone who can actually help. Once escalated, your chances increase since you have solid proof of account ownership with all the linked information. Hang in there, it can take a while but people do get their accounts back!
This advice is super reassuring. I'll keep submitting the form and try to escalate things when I call!

Lmao, true! That's a good idea. Time to teach him about online safety.
