I've recently upgraded to an RX 9060 XT GPU, but I'm still using my old Intel Core i5-8600 @ 3.6GHz processor. While playing games, my CPU usage hits around 99-100% while the GPU stays around 92%. This gives me frame rates of 50-65 FPS even after optimizing the settings for performance rather than visual quality. I'm looking for suggestions on how to boost my GPU's performance or to alleviate some of the strain on my CPU without having to buy new parts right now. I've tried increasing the resolution to 2K and adjusting some graphic settings, but I'm not very tech-savvy when it comes to this. Are there any specific Battlefield 6 settings I should modify, or any AMD Software adjustments that could help? I currently have a TUF B360-PLUS GAMING motherboard, which limits my options for upgrading. I'm planning to eventually upgrade my motherboard and CPU next Christmas, possibly to a second-hand i7-9700, but I've heard it might not make a significant difference. Any advice would be fantastic!

You’re definitely going to need a faster or higher core count CPU for Battlefield 6. There's not really a workaround to that if you want better performance.
Yeah, that game is pretty rough on resources. Even high-end setups can struggle with it. If you're planning to upgrade your CPU, definitely aim for something high-end to handle it better.
Make sure to close any unnecessary background processes when you’re gaming. If your Windows installation is old, a fresh install can help with performance too. It worked great for me when I did mine!
First off, what are you aiming for? If it's higher frame rates, your options are pretty limited without changing hardware. You could go through the game settings one by one to see what can be turned down to lighten the load on your CPU, but that’s not a guaranteed fix. Still, if you want to avoid dropping under 60 FPS, that’s a good place to start!
Yeah, I get that—you want smooth gameplay without sacrificing too much quality.
One potential way to improve performance slightly is by upgrading to faster RAM. Your CPU (8th and 9th gen) can benefit from that, but your motherboard might limit how fast you can go. Honestly, I’d suggest investing in new RAM rather than looking for an i9 upgrade. If you upgrade components in the future, the RAM can be reused.
True, but with RAM prices being crazy right now, it might be tough to swing that.
To get the most out of what you have now, try these:
- Disable any background apps you're not using.
- Uninstall unneeded programs.
- Adjust Battlefield 6 texture settings to the highest your VRAM supports. For me, I'm on ultra with 16GB VRAM.
- Lower other settings to minimize CPU load.
- Ensure your cooling allows the CPU to perform at boost clock speeds.

I actually just did a fresh install in November—so I'm good on that front.
