How Can I Remove an Inactive YouTube Channel Featuring Me?

I'm in a bit of a bind and need some advice on how to deal with a YouTube channel that's been inactive for over four years. The issue is that it features a video where I appear. While the video isn't inappropriate, I really wish to have it removed. I've already contacted YouTube with a takedown request, but they said it doesn't violate their policies. I've even tried reaching out to supposed 'internet experts', but they just took my money without helping. Since I can't get in touch with the channel owner, any suggestions on what to do next?

You should definitely consider reaching out to Google or even consulting an attorney about this issue. Tech support isn't the right avenue for something like this, especially since it involves potential copyright concerns. They might be able to guide you on legal options to take down the video.

Agreed! It sounds like you might not have much recourse since you don't own the copyright, and the copyright owner might not be willing to pursue a DMCA takedown either. Fair use could also complicate things here.

How do I go about contacting Google? Is there a specific department or form I need to use?

Did you fill out a DMCA claim? If you did that for an inactive channel, they usually can't respond, and the video may get taken down eventually. It's worth trying that route if you haven’t already!

Thanks for the tip! I have filled out YouTube's form several times, specifically stating I don't want to be featured in the video. Each time, I just get the same generic response saying it doesn't violate their privacy policies. It's really frustrating.
