How can I replace the Wi-Fi card on my motherboard with a new one?

I built a mini-ITX PC around three years ago using the ASUS ROG STRIX B450-I motherboard, which has an onboard Wi-Fi card (Realtek 8822BE). Over time, I've encountered several issues with this Wi-Fi card. I initially used Wi-Fi, switched to Ethernet, but now I'm back on Wi-Fi, and the connection frequently drops. It seems I can't get support from the manufacturer anymore.

I found a guide for replacing the onboard card and wanted to upgrade to an Intel AX200, but I ended up with the Intel AX211 since I couldn't find the AX200. I assumed it would be fine because the motherboard uses an Intel I211 wired interface, but now the AX211 isn't showing up in Device Manager. I've tried reseating the card, installing drivers from Intel's website, and adjusting the BIOS settings for the onboard card, but nothing has worked.

I'm looking for advice on what I can do to make this setup work or, if not, what modern Wi-Fi card would be a good replacement for my motherboard. I realize this is a tricky situation since space is limited in my mini-ITX case, and I can't use a PCIe NIC.

It looks like you might be using the wrong card. The AX211 often requires support from Intel platforms due to its CNVio2 interface, which many motherboards don’t support. I’d recommend switching to the AX210 instead, as it has a standard M.2 PCIe connection that should work with your setup. That way, your motherboard will definitely recognize it!

Exactly! The AX210 is the better choice for broad compatibility, so definitely consider it!
