How Can I Restore My Xorg Session After GNOME Removed It?

I've been experiencing significant issues with GNOME after the recent removal of the Xorg session. Prior to this, GNOME was stable on Wayland for me. Now, I'm encountering black screens, random pixel artifacts, and my system crashes whenever I try using Cinnamon on Wayland. This is happening on both my main PC running EndeavourOS with an AMD Ryzen 7 9700X and RTX 3060 Ti, as well as on a test machine with Alpine Linux featuring a Xeon processor and GTX 1070 Ti. I'm aware that GNOME 48+ claims to support Nvidia, but without the Xorg fallback, my system has become extremely unreliable. I really need help getting a stable X11 session back. Can anyone guide me on how to do this safely?

One workaround is to roll back to GNOME 47, which still supports X11. If you're open to it, you could also consider trying a different desktop environment like XFCE. But, just to state the obvious, the issues you’re facing like black screens and crashes can’t be easily diagnosed without more detailed info. Good luck with that!

Totally agree! It's frustrating how many users claim Wayland is ready to replace Xorg. Most apps still rely heavily on Xorg for a reason—compatibility with various hardware seems to be an ongoing issue with Wayland!
