I'm running Linux Mint and struggling to get cracked portable EXE games to launch. I tried using Bottles, but after clicking 'run executable', it doesn't seem to do anything at all. I also attempted to use the Heroic Games Launcher, but I received an error about a missing DLL that won't install through Winetricks. I'm attempting to run Circuit Superstars, which I downloaded from steamgg, a site mentioned in the piracy megathread. I know Linux can be tricky, but I feel pretty lost. What should I do?

Have you thought about whether the game really needs to be portable? I haven’t seen much discussion around running this type of game on Linux, but I've had some success with cracked games by using a Wine prefix from another game. It might be that the portable version isn't even getting a proper Wine prefix set up, which could be why you're missing that DLL you're looking for.
I agree with adding it to Steam and using Proton. Just know that those portable EXE files don't usually work smoothly on Linux. You might also consider running the game in a virtual machine if nothing else works.
It sounds like you’re having a rough time with Wine and the game itself. When you mentioned that there's no error with Bottles, can you provide any error messages? That info would help troubleshoot further.
I'd suggest trying to add the game to Steam and running it with Proton. I’ve had decent luck with that setup. Also, make sure your Proton version is up to date; you can use ProtonUp to manage that. Just install the latest version in the Flatpak or through the software manager, and you should be good to go.
If you're still struggling, running a VM might be your best bet. It can feel overwhelming, but it sounds like you’re on the right track trying different solutions. Keep experimenting with those settings, and you might strike gold!
