I'm using Ubuntu 22.04 and I want to play NFS Most Wanted 2005. My friends suggested I try Lutris, but it didn't work for me. So, I switched to Steam and Proton. However, I'm having trouble launching the game. I configured everything using WINE and directed it to Steam, but when I try to run the game with the command `wine speed.exe`, I get a bunch of diagnostic messages—most notably, errors suggesting issues with Vulkan drivers and DXVK. Has anyone experienced this or knows how to fix it?

Steam runs natively on Linux, so just make sure you've got the Linux version installed and point it to your Steam library. Install Proton from the Steam store, and you should be good to go! Just keep in mind that I’ve never tried running a non-Steam game directly through it. If you set up the game correctly using Steam with Proton, you should have a better experience. No need for WINE here!

Got it! So I should stick to the Linux version of Steam and skip WINE. Thanks!

Sounds like the issue could be related to your GPU not supporting newer Vulkan versions. Your GTX 960 has trouble with the DXVK due to missing features. You might want to try installing an older DXVK version that’s compatible with your card to avoid crashes when launching the game.
