I'm trying to figure out how to set up a KVM switch for my two work laptops, making it easier to switch between them without constantly plugging and unplugging everything. My first laptop is an HP Chromebook with Thunderbolt ports available for video output, while the second laptop only has an HDMI port for video and USB-C ports for data transfer. I need a KVM solution that allows me to use two external monitors while keeping the laptops closed. So far, I haven't found a reliable setup or product that addresses my requirements. Any recommendations?

If you want to use both monitors with both computers, check out this 2-in-2-out KVM switch: [2IN/2OUT KVM](https://www.amazon.com/UGREEN-Monitors-Computers-Keyboard-Controller/dp/B0DXF66SWR). It’s a bit pricey but should do the trick. For your Chromebook, you might need a Thunderbolt to HDMI adapter like this one: [Thunderbolt to HDMI Adapter](https://www.sonnetstore.com/products/thunderbolt-to-dual-4k-hdmi-adapter) along with the appropriate cables. But if you'd rather just use one monitor, you can save some cash with a 2-in-1-out KVM and a single HDMI adapter.
For your Chromebook, consider getting a Thunderbolt dock that has HDMI output. This way, you can use a standard HDMI KVM switch to alternate between your laptops. It should simplify things for you, and you won't have to deal with constant unplugging!
Could you give me some examples of those docks? I'd like to see what you're talking about.

I bought something like the first option, but I'm stuck because my other laptop only has one HDMI output and no DP port. The Chromebook recognizes both monitors fine, but the other one only shows one.
