How can I set up iCloud Photos on Windows 11 like I did on Windows 7?

Hey everyone! I'm really struggling with iCloud Photos on my iPhone after switching to Windows 11. When I was using Windows 7, it was super easy—new photos would automatically download to my chosen folder without any hassle. Now, with Windows 11, I'm facing a couple of annoying issues:

1. I can't choose where to save my photos; I can only save them to the system drive, which is a problem because of limited space.
2. I have to manually copy and paste them to keep them on my computer, or I can't see or download them unless I double-click each one.

What happened to the convenience I had before? Is there any way to configure iCloud like it was on Windows 7? Any tricks, alternative programs, or hidden settings I could try? Thanks in advance!

Yeah, it's a bit of a hassle now. One thing you might try is moving your photo library to a different folder that's not in iCloud Photos. Be careful though, as it says that photos deleted from any device with iCloud Photos will also disappear from your PC if they’re not stored separately. It's definitely a more manual process now, but it could help with ensuring you don’t lose any files. Just remember to keep backups elsewhere!

I totally get your frustration! It looks like Apple has adjusted how iCloud works on newer Windows versions. According to their support page, the setup for iCloud on Windows 11 is quite different from how it was on Windows 7. You might want to check out the settings and see if there's a way to set your photo library to a different folder, but it's tricky because they want to manage storage through the iCloud Photos app. If you want to keep those photos safe, the best bet is to manually back them up to another location on your drive even though it's not as convenient.
