How can I set up my WordPress site to send and receive emails on Amazon EC2?

I recently migrated to Amazon EC2 with WHM and cPanel after moving on from Bluehost, and I'm really enjoying the service. However, I've hit a snag with email functionality. I need my websites to send and receive emails, like notifications for sales or password reset requests, but it seems Amazon has blocked port 25. What solutions can I use? Can I switch to another port to make this work? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You might also want to look into services like MailChimp. They can help with sending transactional emails and are pretty easy to integrate with WordPress.

Port 25 is blocked by Amazon for spam prevention, but you can use a different port like 587 to connect to your SMTP server. Raising a support ticket to remove the block is an option too, but I’d recommend using the secure port instead for better results.

The port block is in place to prevent spam and protect IP reputations. SES is probably your best bet since it integrates well with WordPress. If you have access to an on-premise email server, that could work too, depending on your setup.

Definitely consider using Amazon Simple Email Service (SES). There are plenty of WordPress plugins available that can help you set that up easily!

Have you tried using the WP Mail SMTP plugin? It's a great tool for setting up a mail service. You can configure it with Amazon SES or other email providers to get your emails working seamlessly.
