How Can I Set Up Scanning to Email on Our MFPs with Intune?

Hey everyone! I'm currently working on implementing scan-to-email functionality on our multi-function printers (MFPs) across 30+ apartment communities. We're using an SMTP account through Mimecast, which will remain functional despite upcoming changes in basic authentication for Microsoft SMTP.

The issue I'm facing is twofold:
1. Intune doesn't permit the use of network folder scans, which is why we're shifting focus to email.
2. For some heavy users who scan frequently, I'm struggling with settings that would let the scanners send emails efficiently. Right now, every scan comes as an attachment, and with the time it takes to send, they end up arriving out of order—really messy when managing multiple documents.

I've considered third-party services like Vasion or Papercut to help with functionalities like scanning to SharePoint or OneDrive, but my organization isn't keen on spending money. So I really need advice on either enabling network folders in Intune or configuring the copiers properly. Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

I've had success using Power Automate with a shared mailbox. You can set it up to monitor incoming emails, grab attachments, and move them to a SharePoint folder. Once processed, the emails are deleted. It's a great cloud-based solution!

As for the scanning, if email's too slow, you might consider a PC or NAS for direct scan-to-SMB sharing. If your devices are on Intune, just create a local 'scan' account with access to your folder. It could simplify things a lot!
