How Can I Start Learning to Build Websites from Scratch?

I'm looking to learn how to create and code websites using WordPress, but I have zero experience. I currently work at a marketing agency where I started as a copywriter, but I've recently transitioned into project management. Lately, my role has shifted to about 60% project management and 40% copywriting. The owners of the agency appreciate my work, and since we're taking on a lot of website projects, I'd like to help fill the gap in development. There's a current developer, but he's not very detail-oriented and often disappears, which creates issues for the co-owner who has to fix things later. I'm aiming to eventually take on more development work, especially since I'm considering buying a house and starting a family soon. Any tips on the best approach for learning to create and code WordPress websites?

A good starting point would be to learn the basics of HTML and CSS, as well as some JavaScript. Websites like Free Code Camp and The Odin Project have free resources that are great for beginners. Focus on the front-end stuff first, and then you can dive into PHP for the back-end along with using MySQL or MariaDB for database management.

Thanks for the suggestions! Are there any specific resources for learning the back-end?

Do you have any prior experience with programming or PHP? That could change how you approach learning web development!
