How Can I Start Using Linux as a Complete Beginner?

I've been a Windows user for as long as I can remember, but I'm really interested in getting into Linux. The problem is that I feel completely lost and have no idea where to start. I know a little, but it's mostly just random bits of information. Can anyone help me understand the basics? I'm looking for recommendations for videos or websites that were helpful for you. Also, which Linux distribution would you recommend for someone who's just starting out? Thanks a lot!

Fedora and Mint are both excellent for starters. Mint is user-friendly and works well for non-techies, while Fedora is more up-to-date and secure. Take your time and learn at your pace. If you need help with commands, just use the `man ` to read the manuals.

Thanks for the suggestion!

Getting started is as simple as installing Linux and then adding programs through the software store. It works similarly to Windows, just with different names and layouts. You'll find everything you need, like a browser and file manager, pretty easily!

I think Linux Mint is a fantastic choice for Windows users making the switch. You can download the ISO and create a bootable USB easily. Plus, it has all the essentials like web browsing and office applications right out of the box. You might want to check out some guides on what to do after installing Linux to get the most out of it.

Before you dive in, think about what you mostly do with your computer. Is it gaming, chatting, or something else? Knowing that can help you choose the right Linux distro.

I mainly use it for Discord, Steam, and burning CDs.
