I recently got a new phone through a work program, and while it's functioning well, I've been facing a strange issue. Each phone has its own direct dial number in addition to our main business line. My problem is that my number is very similar to a large hospital's number located across the country—like mine being (550)555-5555 while theirs is (505)555-5555. Because of this, I receive several wrong number calls daily meant for the hospital. Is there a way to block calls from that area code, or any other solution to this issue?

Have you thought about asking your company for help? They might have options or suggestions for dealing with this issue.
Blocking that area code isn't a great idea since you might miss important calls from genuine contacts. Your best bet might be to request a new Direct Inward Dialing (DID) number. I've faced a similar situation with my personal phone because a nearby hospital had numbers that looked a lot like mine, just in a different order. Might be worth checking with your phone system admin about getting a new number without having to lose your current one.
To be honest, there are hardly any legitimate calls coming through to my direct line, and none from that area code, so I really doubt it would be a problem.
Have you considered setting up a voicemail specifically for that area code? Maybe a pre-recorded message explaining that the number is incorrect could help reduce the calls you get.

I did try that, but since it's a small company, we don’t have an IT person to assist. Even reaching out to Verizon didn't provide any real help.
