My computer is aging and I think my D drive is failing. Every time I start it up, it scans and pretends to fix the drive, but it doesn't really do anything useful. This process takes forever, and honestly, I don't really need that drive for anything important. Is there a way to stop these scans from happening every single boot?

Just a quick check, but does your D drive have any important files? If not, maybe consider stopping using it altogether and investing in a replacement.
Another option is to just put your computer in sleep mode instead of doing a full shutdown. However, it's pretty clear that a new drive is probably in your future.
If there's nothing critical on your D drive, the simplest solution might be to just get a new one. Copy any important files to the new drive and then swap them out. This way, you won't have to deal with the annoying scan every time you boot.
You could check the health of your D drive using a tool like CrystalDiskInfo. It sounds like it might be on its way out. If it is failing, it's definitely time for a replacement.
