How can I stop my grandmother from using Apple Family on my phone?

My grandmother pays for my phone and is trying to set up Apple Family on it, even though I use a Motorola. I really don't want this, mainly because of our complicated relationship and her past actions that have affected my family and me. I'm uncomfortable with her being able to track my location, especially since I prefer that people just text me to ask where I am. She claims it's for my safety, but I feel that if I were kidnapped, anyone would just throw my phone away. I don't trust her anymore and just want to be left alone. The problem is, she's my guardian for a few more years, and I can't get a job to save up for my own phone. Is there any way I can stop her from adding me to her Apple Family?

Honestly, if you could manage to get a job or even save up a little more, you could get a phone that isn’t under her control. That might give you the space you need from her interference.

I really want to, but she won’t allow me to work right now. It feels like I’m stuck until my situation changes.

Your Motorola shouldn't have the compatibility to join an Apple Family account, so technically, she can't add your phone. As far as I know, Apple Family features are primarily designed for Apple devices. You might want to double-check if there’s any way she can track you via her account.

That's what I thought too! If she insists it can pair, I’d look into any settings she might have overlooked. Just keep your phone settings tight, maybe even ask for a second opinion if you can.
