How Can I Tell If I’ve Been Hacked?

I'm completely new to PC use, having only used consoles before, so I might not understand all the tech lingo. Recently, every time I open Chrome, I notice a weird tab that opens. It always shows a Zoro figure from One Piece and includes a link to "bumi22.com" in my search history. I'm really unsure if I might have been hacked or if there's another explanation. How can I check for hacks and stop this from happening? Thanks for any help!

It sounds like you might just need to check your browser settings. Look at your extensions and startup page, and see if there's anything unusual. It's likely just a configuration issue rather than a hack.

Thanks for the help! I plan to try some ad blockers tomorrow and see if that clears things up.

Have you ever visited that website before? Sometimes these weird links pop up just from visiting certain pages accidentally.

That URL usually points to an ad, not a hack. It's fairly common to see these types of pop-ups if you don’t have an ad blocker enabled. Since you're using Brave, which is great for blocking ads, consider installing basic ad blockers like AdBlock or uBlock Origin to help manage those annoying ads. You're probably not hacked; you just might be getting used to the browsing experience without ad blocking.
