How can I tell if my computer has a virus and what should I do?

I'm really worried that my computer might have some kind of virus because it's been super slow lately, but my memory isn't full and my CPU usage is usually in the 80s. I wanted to follow a guide I found online using my phone, but I ran into some issues. When I tried to visit rkill.com for the first step, the website kept redirecting me to a bunch of other sites, which was really unsettling. I quickly closed it, but now I'm worried that I might have accidentally done something bad. I did download Malwarebytes and tried the free trial, but it didn't find anything or fix my problems. What can I do to resolve this? I spend a lot of time on my computer, and this situation is really stressing me out.

First off, take a deep breath! It sounds like your concerns are valid. Start with a full system scan using any antivirus software you have; if you’re on Windows, Windows Defender can do the trick. If you don't have that, I recommend downloading BitDefender, which is a solid antivirus option. After running these scans, if you don’t find anything, you might just need to tidy up your hard drives a bit. Sometimes, just cleaning up can help improve speed without any malware involved.

Is BitDefender free and does it need administrative permissions?
