Hey everyone! I'm 17 and I've steered clear of social media my entire life, but as a budding cinematographer and freelance video editor, I'm eager to join social media to showcase my work and attract clients. My parents are insisting I wait until I'm 18 to get on social media, which is frustrating because that's still 10 months away.
I want to download some apps secretly on my iPhone 11, but I'm worried about potential parental monitoring. I've checked for familiar apps like Life360 or Family Sharing, and I didn't find any. However, I can't shake the feeling that my parents might still be getting alerts about my activity, like when I download new apps or text new numbers.
What can I do to check if they are still able to see what I'm doing on my phone? Thanks for any help or tech advice you can provide!

First things first, double-check your phone settings to make sure it’s not linked to any family accounts. If you spot anything odd like other devices, that might be a clue. It's a simple step but super important!
Consider creating a brand-new Apple ID that isn’t connected to any other accounts and reset your iPhone as a fresh start. This could help you fly under the radar. Just keep in mind that if your phone isn’t under your own contract, there might still be some visibility for your parents.
Make sure to check the Screen Time settings as well. If you see restrictions you can't change, there’s a good chance they might be monitoring. Also, ensure you're logged into your personal Apple ID and not theirs.
Good to know! I feel like I have control over my content restrictions, but I'll double-check.
