My mom's AOL account was phished, and unfortunately, some Amazon gift cards worth $180 have been redeemed. I quickly changed her password as soon as I learned about the issue, but it seems one of her friends is still logged into her account from another state. I can log them out, but is there any way to track this person down while they are still logged in? I understand this might be a long shot, especially since the money is probably gone, but I thought I'd ask if anyone has ideas before I proceed with logging them out. Just hoping for a miracle from Amazon support as well!

Just log them out and forget about it, honestly. It's tough, but these situations can get more complicated than they're worth. Better to focus on securing the account now.
It's good that you changed the password immediately! Make sure you set up multi-factor authentication (MFA) now to prevent this from happening again. I know it's frustrating, but sometimes you just have to let it go and move on after securing things. If they’re still logged in, tracking them just isn’t possible legally.
I’d be careful—trying to track them down might cross legal lines. If you really want to do something, maybe include the incident in a police report? But honestly, it sounds like contacting Amazon is your best bet now.
Got it, I was just looking for any possible leads. I’ll focus on Amazon support for now. Thanks for the advice!
I hear you! I set up MFA already, just hoping for more reassurance. It’s crazy that she fell for it even with that in place, but it really only takes one mistake.
