How can I upgrade my PC for 1080p gaming?

Hey everyone! I've been using an Intel i5-11400F processor with an H510 motherboard and a GT 1030 GPU, along with 8GB of DDR4 2666MHz RAM. This setup worked well for my 720p monitor, allowing me to play some low-end games without issues. Now, I'm looking to upgrade to a 1080p 180Hz monitor and am curious if I should go for a GeForce RTX 3050 or if you have any other suggestions. Also, I'd like to know if the GPU is compatible with my current setup and if it can handle newer games at decent FPS, or if I should hold off for a better upgrade.

Since you have an 11th gen CPU, consider the Intel B560 motherboard, which can provide some serious performance boost similar to a 3070. It’s a solid choice if upgrading!

Definitely go for a 3050 or even better, look into the RX 6600 or 7600 if you find them around the same price. You’ll want at least 16GB of 3200MHz RAM to complement your gaming experience.

Check out the RX 6600 or 7600 if they’re within $20 of the 6600; they’re great options!

Honestly, the 3050 might struggle to give great quality on a 180Hz monitor. You might want to aim for something like 75 to 144Hz instead. The 3050 can handle that, but if you can swing it, check out the 3060 for better performance!

I thought about getting the 180Hz one since the price difference wasn't too much. Thanks for the heads up!

An RTX 3050 should work fine, but I'd also suggest upgrading your RAM to at least 16GB to get the most out of it. It makes a big difference!

Yep, I'm planning to upgrade RAM as well, thanks!

If you're considering GPUs, I'd recommend the RX 6600 instead of the 3050. It's better value and performance for a similar price, especially since the 3050's 6GB version isn't great. By the way, what's your power supply?

TechieWizard47 -

I have a 550W power supply.

Cool, just check out prices for the RX 6600. It could be a great option!
