I'm trying to watch a DVD at home on my work laptop, but I've run into some issues. I have an external DVD drive, but it seems like there's no software on my laptop to actually play the DVD, like VLC player or anything else. Unfortunately, I can't download any software because it's asking for an admin password, which I don't have access to. Is there any workaround for this situation?

Have you tried using Windows Media Player? It comes pre-installed on most Windows laptops and should work for playing your DVD. Just search for it in your start menu.
I wouldn't recommend using your work laptop for personal stuff like this. It's likely that there are monitoring policies in place, plus it's just not a good idea to mix work and personal use. You could always get a low-cost laptop for personal tasks instead.
If all else fails, you could reach out to your company's IT admin. They might be able to help you out or provide the necessary software.
If you're determined to watch it, try typing 'Windows Media Player' into the start menu search. It could surprise you and work just fine!
You might want to look into downloading a portable version of VLC or another DVD player. Portable apps don't require installation, so they could run off a USB without needing admin access. Just a thought!
