How Can We Control ChatGPT’s Memory to Improve Conversations?

I've been using ChatGPT for a while now and really appreciate its memory feature, but lately I've noticed that it sometimes feels like my previous conversations are influencing new chats in a negative way. It's almost like Spotify keeping a weird song on repeat, which doesn't reflect my current vibe. Sometimes I just want a fresh perspective, but it seems like past exchanges are always creeping in, especially when I'm coding. It would be super helpful if we could have options like 'Ignore this for memory' or 'Let this influence future answers.' Anyone else feeling like old chats are messing with the flow of new discussions?

Hey, there are temporary chats that don’t use memory, but the issue is they're just that—temporary! I wish there was a permanent solution that gave more freedom to choose what stays and what doesn't.

I totally get what you're saying! I once mentioned my love for dogs, and now it seems like every chatbot interaction involves a dog reference. It's like it doesn't know when to quit! I agree, sometimes the AI just needs to ease up and not pull in memories that really don’t relate to the current topic.

Yeah, they had a feature like this once, but it disappeared already. I’ve had to turn memory off completely. I mostly use ChatGPT for work-related stuff, and mixing personal memories has been a mess for me. It seems to create some really awkward responses when it remembers too much!

I wish we had more control over memories! I frequently remove memories, but I'd love to edit them directly. It feels like there's no systematic way to manage which past conversations it keeps, making the experience frustrating.
