How can we keep elderly users safe from scams on their PCs?

I'm looking for ways to help protect my elderly customers, many of whom are not very tech-savvy. I've already taken several steps like removing administrative privileges, setting app permissions to 'Microsoft Store only', uninstalling remote support applications, and disabling common shortcuts that scammers might use. Despite these efforts, I've still noticed remote access software like LogMeIn and Ultraviewer appearing in recent downloads. I'm wondering what more can be done to prevent unauthorized access. Would blocking ports for known remote access programs be effective? Also, I'm trying to find a way to permanently disable Chrome's remote access options. I believe we need stronger solutions to help vulnerable users who might not understand the tech risks. Any suggestions?

I recommend giving them a restricted access account that requires a password for installations. This way, they won't be able to download anything without your approval.

That's a great idea! It gives them some freedom while keeping things secure.

Education is key! Always encourage them to check with someone they trust if they get unexpected calls or emails, especially if they're asked for sensitive information. Teaching them to reach out for help before taking action can seriously protect them from scammers.

Have you thought about Windows S mode? It's a locked-down mode that could help a lot. You can set up the PC the way they want and then enable S mode, giving them a more secure environment.

Using an ad blocker is a simple yet effective way to prevent them from seeing scam ads. If they can't see the advertisements, they won't click on them, which helps to reduce the chances of falling for scams.
