How Do Big Companies Win Website Contracts?

I'm curious about how large web development companies land big contracts. Do they actively seek out businesses that need websites, or is there a specific process involved? I've heard about something called RFPs (Requests for Proposals), but I'm not clear on how these work or where companies announce their need for a new website. It seems like I never see website companies advertising, so do businesses just reach out to them directly?

Big companies usually respond to RFPs put out by potential clients. Winning a big contract often involves a collaborative pitch process where you gather requirements, create a detailed proposal, and present it to the client. It’s not just submitting a bid; it’s about showcasing your expertise and winning them over!

Where can I find these RFPs? Can anyone see them and submit proposals?

There are lots of public subscription lists for RFPs that you can monitor. Writing proposals can be intense since you have to clearly outline your scope and services, but it’s crucial in this field. It’s a whole system out there!

That sounds interesting! How can I get into these RFPs? Where do I find this ecosystem?

Large companies often rely on their sales teams to find clients, primarily targeting other large organizations. They don’t really need to announce their needs publicly, as they’re usually flooded with proposals and recommendations.

For my company, we use a blend of paid lead generation services and government RFPs, along with networking events in our industry. It’s all about knowing where to look and building connections!
