Hey everyone! I'm in a bit of a situation and could really use some advice. My Windows 11 is currently on an Intenso NVMe SSD (about 250 GB), which has been acting up recently. I'm planning to upgrade to a new 1 TB Samsung 990 Pro NVMe SSD. Here are my main questions:
1. Is it safe to clone my Windows from the old SSD to the new Samsung one using cloning software? Can I boot directly from the new SSD without needing to mess with the registry or bootloader?
2. What cloning programs would you recommend? I've heard mixed things about Samsung Data Migration—do you think it's a reliable option, or should I consider other tools?
3. Are there any tips or things I should be cautious about to ensure the transition goes smoothly?
I really want to avoid doing a full reinstall since I'm not particularly tech-savvy and I'd rather not waste hours troubleshooting if something goes wrong. If you've done this before or have suggestions for tools that work, I'd appreciate your help! Thanks a lot!

For cloning your drive, both Clonezilla and Acronis work really well. Acronis even has a free version that lets you create a full backup which you can then restore to your new drive. This method is a bit safer for beginners since it reduces the risk of losing your data.
Before cloning, it’s a good idea to initialize your new drive as a GPT partition and give it a letter. Also, run some maintenance commands like 'SFC /scannow' and 'CHKDSK' on your old drive just to ensure everything is in good shape. It’s not mandatory, but it can help prevent issues during the cloning process. If the first cloning attempt fails, you might want to try again a couple of times before giving up. Good luck!
You can totally clone your drive without issues. Just use any cloning software like Acronis or HD Clone. If your new SSD is bigger, make sure to enable the auto-resizing option so it adjusts the partition size properly.
If it doesn’t boot up immediately, you can always create a new boot partition, but in most cases, it should work just fine on the first try!
Thanks! My main worry was about whether Windows would boot properly on the new SSD. Seems like it should work, but I’ll follow your suggestion just in case!
