I recently downloaded a TV series with episodes that are over 1GB each in .mkv format. I'm trying to convert them to either .avi or .mp4 formats because my old TV can't play .mkv files. I attempted to use VLC for the conversion, but when I try to play the converted files, I get an error saying 'format not supported or damaged files'. Can anyone help me figure out a solution? Thanks!

VLC can actually play .mkv files directly, so you might not need to convert them unless your TV requires a different format. If you're determined to convert, consider Shutter Encoder; it's easy to use and gets the job done nicely!
I also use Shutter Encoder—it has a user-friendly interface and supports a ton of formats. It should help you convert those episodes without any problems!
You should try using HandBrake—it's a really straightforward tool for video conversion. I've switched from VLC for this kind of stuff because HandBrake tends to work better for converting video files without issues. Give it a shot!
Check out this FileConverter on GitHub. It automatically converts files and might have the options you need for your TV.
I second that! HandBrake is great for this, and it's free!
