A few weeks ago, I got hacked after downloading a file for Minecraft that I shouldn't have. The hacker accessed both my Microsoft and email accounts. I managed to secure my email with a new password and 2FA, but the hacker was still able to get into my Microsoft and Minecraft accounts. After resetting my computer and doing a thorough wipe, I thought I was safe. I took precautions like using a paid VPN, removing OneDrive, and disabling remote access.
However, after a week of playing Minecraft on a new Microsoft account, I checked my old account and found out the hacker had taken all my in-game items. I started using my old account to AFK a farm, but then noticed strange activity - like an invisibility effect in-game. My WiFi started acting weird, almost like a DDoS attack. I had logged into my old account again and saw the hacker's device connected. Despite unlinking it multiple times, they kept getting back in.
It seems like they still have access, but I can't figure out how. My main concerns are:
1. They might be accessing my Microsoft Store without my login info.
2. They could have my Xbox account details.
3. They may have a way to directly access my Microsoft account.
4. There might still be something malicious on my PC.
5. I'm worried about potentially harmful files in the .minecraft folder that are collecting my login info.
I've factory reset my PC again and don't know what else to do. I tried reaching out to Microsoft support, but no luck. I'm really confused and just want to find a way to kick this hacker for good. Any advice or guidance would be really appreciated!

It sounds like a tough situation! First, you could try resetting your Microsoft account password again and setting up 2FA if you haven't already. Make sure to also remove all unknown devices from your account. Since you’re worried about potential malware, running a full system scan with a trusted anti-malware tool is a must. Also, consider reinstalling Windows from scratch if you're still suspicious. Don't forget to check your installed applications for anything sketchy, too.
If you want a more thorough clean, consider running a couple of scans with different software. Sometimes one tool can miss things another catches.
This is intense! Since you've done some serious steps already, if the hacker is still connecting, you might also consider using a different device entirely to access your accounts in the meantime. Just to be safe! Meanwhile, using a hardware firewall could help bolster your protection.
Great idea! Using a different device could help me determine if there's still something on my PC. I'll definitely look into hardware firewalls as well.
Good thinking! It’s better to be safe than sorry while you figure out the problem.
You're doing the right things by being cautious. Have you checked if there’s a malware detection that specifically targets RATs or remote access tools? It might be worth it to look into that. Sometimes hackers leave behind hidden files that allow them to reconnect to your system. Also, try creating a new, clean user profile on Windows just to see if the hacker can still access it from there.
I haven't looked into that specifically yet, but I will! Creating a new profile sounds like a good idea too. Thanks for the tip!
Make sure to monitor both accounts carefully. If they keep coming back, there might be a deeper issue with your PC.

Thanks for the suggestions! I did reset my passwords and enable 2FA, but it seems like the hacker keeps finding a way back in. I’ll definitely do a full scan and keep an eye on any suspicious apps.
