How do I determine which M.2 drive to use for my Windows installation?

I'm building a new PC and I have two identical M.2 drives installed - same brand, size, and model. I've heard that the drive connected to the CPU should be used for the OS, but I'm not sure how to tell which one that is. I noticed one drive shows up as #PCI(0600) and the other as #PCI(1B04) when looking in DISKPART. Is there a straightforward way to figure this out?

You're overthinking it! The easiest fix is just to temporarily remove the drive you don't want Windows on. Install the OS on the other drive, then once that's done, reinsert the removed drive, power up, and format it. Less hassle than fussing around with DISKPART!

Yeah, but that sounds like a pain! I’d hate to take everything apart just for that. Guess I need to think ahead next time!
