I've recently picked up a thrifted A1312 iMac, but it has Pop!_OS installed instead of macOS. When I try to do a factory reset using the usual method of holding Command + R at startup, I just get an option for "Pop!_OS (Restore)". Following that route only partially resets the iMac by removing the previous owner's profile, but I still end up in Pop!_OS, which I'm not comfortable using. I'm looking for advice on how to fully restore macOS on this machine. Any tips would be much appreciated!

You might want to look up Internet Recovery options for your iMac. It can help you reinstall macOS if your recovery partition is missing. Just remember that for your model, the process might start with holding down Command + R + Option, as several users suggest. If that doesn’t work, you may need to create a bootable USB for macOS.
I tried that, but it doesn't work properly for my setup. I keep getting stuck with the Pop!_OS options. It seems like a mismatch, but I’ll keep at it!
