I've been using my gaming PC for a couple of years, and I've recently upgraded to two DDR5 32GB RAM sticks. However, I've noticed that my current motherboard only supports DDR4 RAM. Before I invest in more DDR4 sticks, I'm considering getting a new motherboard instead. Can anyone walk me through the process of swapping out the motherboard if I go that route?

If your current motherboard uses the AMD AM4 socket, you're out of luck finding a DDR5 version, since those don’t exist on that platform. You might want to consider what kind of motherboard your CPU can support before making a purchase.
If replacing the motherboard and CPU gets too pricey, it might be worth sticking with your current setup. DDR5 RAM can be more expensive, so you could just return those sticks and grab two 16GB DDR4 ones instead. 64GB may be overkill for just gaming anyway!
First off, you'll need to check which CPU you have. If you're using an AMD Ryzen 5 5600G like you mentioned, that's not compatible with DDR5 motherboards. So you'll likely need a new CPU as well in this case.
Swapping motherboards is pretty straightforward: unplug everything connected to it, unscrew it from the case, and then carefully remove it. Just ensure that whatever new motherboard you get is compatible with your CPU and RAM.
Just a heads up, the compatibility of the CPU is super important. Since you're on a 5600G, make sure it will work with the motherboard you're considering.

What did you pay for those DDR5 sticks? Sometimes, if you're on a tight budget, sticking with DDR4 makes more sense. Buying a whole new set-up can really add up!
