I'm currently using an Ethernet cable for my PC, and I noticed that the IP address assigned is different from the one I typically see on my WiFi connection. However, when I log into services like Gmail, it still shows my regular WiFi IP address. I want to know how I can make sure I'm using the IP address from my Ethernet connection instead. Any help would be appreciated!

When you check your IP on Google with a "What is my IP" search, it shows your PUBLIC IP. The IPs assigned to Ethernet and WiFi are usually private (like 192.168.x.x or 172.16.x.x). You can set your Ethernet or WiFi to a static IP to manually assign it, but if both end up with the same address, you might need to turn off one to avoid conflicts.
First off, you might want to disable your WiFi while using the Ethernet. Sometimes, your system won’t automatically switch to the Ethernet connection. If that doesn't work, it could be an Ethernet issue. Also, just to clarify, are you mixing up private and public IP addresses? What site are you checking this on?
Are both your WiFi and Ethernet connections going through the same router? If they are, then they will usually show the same public IP because that’s assigned to your modem, not your devices. But why do you want to change your IP address?
Pick either Ethernet or WiFi and stick with that! Trying to use both at the same time is usually not a good idea.
