I've had my PC for a few years now, starting with an APU and then upgrading to a 3060 Ti. I'm looking to upgrade my Ryzen 3400G and would like some recommendations on what CPU I should consider.

You should definitely look into a Ryzen 5000 series CPU that doesn't end in -G, and avoid the 5500 or a non-X 5700. Just make sure to update your motherboard's BIOS before swapping in the new CPU!

You might want to check out the 5600XT as well. It's a solid choice for an upgrade! And to answer your question, there's generally only a slight difference in performance between the X and XT models, so factor in your budget and what you need out of the CPU.

If you're looking for something specific, the 5600X or 5800X could be great options. The difference between the X and XT versions isn’t huge, but since you're upgrading from an APU, the 5800X might offer the best performance boost.
