I'm curious about the pricing differences between Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and Microsoft Azure. I've heard a lot of rumors claiming that OCI is significantly cheaper. Can anyone provide solid and recent sources to back this up?

It seriously varies based on your workloads. For instance, database systems and Exadata aren’t exactly cheap. However, OCI has some VM SKUs that are either free or very inexpensive, so it's good to check those out.

I was looking to compare the Azure VM SKU D2sv5 with something similar on OCI, but I've heard that OCI calculates vCores differently than Azure does. Anyone know what the equivalent OCI SKU would be?

You'd be looking at the E4 flex model; 1 OCPU is equivalent to 2 vCPUs. Keep in mind, though, that the E4 flex model is being phased out, so you might want to look at the E5s instead.

If you're sticking with Azure, there are cheaper alternatives to D2sv5, like D2asv5 or D2psv5, especially if you're open to using Arm architecture.

Comparing costs can get tricky. Both Azure and OCI have public cost calculators. Just input your workload information to see which one comes out cheaper!

From what I've seen, OCI can be around $3.50 for basic services, but it really depends on what you're running.

Absolutely, OCI has a public price list available. It's definitely worth reviewing to see how it aligns with your needs!
