I'm not looking to upgrade my GPU right now, but I want to ensure my RTX 2060 will keep running smoothly for a few more years. I bought it during the pandemic and use it mainly for games like Stellaris and Rimworld. Online sources usually suggest a lifespan of about 5-7 years, which makes me a bit anxious since mine is getting older. Some AI analyses claim it could last up to 8-12 years. I know AI can be misleading, so I'm turning to you all for your thoughts. How long do you believe my GPU can last?

Most graphics cards actually last longer than their expected lifespan. As long as you keep your RTX 2060 cool and clean, you should be just fine. While no one can predict an exact failure date, a good cooling system will help extend its life.
To really maximize its life, consider checking your thermal paste and upgrading the thermal pads if necessary. A well-maintained GPU could easily last a decade, especially if you're not pushing it with demanding games.
Honestly, don't stress too much about lifespan. If your GPU is running well and meeting your needs, just keep using it until it stops. Enjoy your gaming without overthinking its longevity!
Lifespan varies widely—some GPUs fail early, while others keep going long after their usefulness. Keep in mind that as games get updated, your GPU may lag behind in performance, so eventually, you may experience slowdowns even if the hardware is still running.
Lucky for me, I don't play much AAA content. RimWorld should run just fine on older GPUs!
I've got parts from way back in 2010 still running like champs! If you maintain your card, it could serve you for well over a decade without any issues.

My concern is if it fails during a time when GPUs are scarce. With NVIDIA cutting production, I'm worried about finding a replacement.
