Hey everyone! I'm curious about how long it took you to learn coding well enough that you could develop software on a professional level without constantly checking documentation. I've been at it for 8 months, and while I've learned a lot and built some fun projects, I don't feel like my code is at a professional standard yet. I get that learning is ongoing, but any insights or advice on your journeys would be super helpful. Thanks!

Honestly, I would say it took me about a year before I felt like I was writing anything worth using rather than just toy projects. Now, 15 years later, I'm still learning, but the progress is real!
Wow, I've been coding for 15 years and I'm still learning! It's a never-ending journey, to be honest.
Any tips from your experience?
I'm at 40 years and still going strong!
I've got 20 years under my belt and currently work as a senior engineer. Just remember, it's all about continuous learning!
Got any advice for someone just starting?
It's been about 8 years for me. If I'm not knee-deep in documentation, I'm bouncing ideas off of ChatGPT! Problem-solving is where the magic happens.
Haha, same here! What's your strategy for tackling tough problems?
Looking back, I think the best way to get to a professional level is actually working with others. Collaborating on projects really helps bridge the gap. Even if you feel you're just 'good enough', get into a team setting; it accelerates learning!
So true! I guess feedback is crucial.
Right? I need that direct input to grow!
That gives me hope! Did you have any formal education or are you self-taught?
