How many FPS can I expect with a 9800X3D and a 9060XT at 2K on high settings?

I'm looking to upgrade my current setup and just found a 9060XT 16GB for €379. I'm curious about how many FPS I could get with this configuration using FSR4 on recent games at 2K resolution with high graphics settings. My current GPU is the 6600XT and I'm considering replacing it with this new one alongside my 9800X3D CPU. Any insights on this?

Buying an expensive CPU isn't the best strategy if you want high graphics. A more powerful GPU can significantly boost performance, sometimes doubling or tripling it, while a high-end CPU mostly just minimizes bottlenecks in the upper range of performance. Don't overinvest in the CPU!

What do you mean by "high graphics"? Are you talking ultra graphics settings or something else? Just trying to clarify so we can give you better advice.

Yeah, I'm thinking about high/ultra graphics settings.

If you're considering 4K gaming, I’d suggest saving some cash on the 9800X3D and going for something like a 9700 or 9600 instead. Put those savings into getting a better GPU since the 9070 XT would be more suitable for 4K gaming. The 9060 XT might struggle at that resolution.

I'm actually aiming for 2K, not 4K.

The FPS you get really depends on the specific game you're playing. You'll need to check benchmarks that match your CPU, GPU, and the FSR4 settings at 2K to be precise. But generally, with the 9060 XT, you shouldn't hit any CPU bottlenecks. It's a step up from the 6600XT, but since you have a high-end CPU, you might want to consider even better GPUs like the RX 9070 XT or 5070 Ti for more performance. If you're into competitive shooters, the 9060 XT should still work well for you too!
