I'm looking to upgrade my system and want to know how much RAM I'd need to handle multitasking, gaming, and streaming smoothly. Also, I've heard there are different prices for RAM—what should I expect to pay?

Personally, I have 64GB in my rig, but I rarely go beyond 32GB during use. For gaming and general multitasking, 32GB will serve you just fine.

You really can’t go wrong with 32GB right now. Prices have been fluctuating a lot, especially for DDR5. Expect to pay around $180 for a decent set. DDR4 is a bit easier to find on the cheaper side, especially if you look for used options around 3200 or 3600MHz.

If you're on a tight budget, don’t start with anything lower than 32GB. It’s pretty much the standard these days, and you’ll be set for most tasks.

Prices for RAM have been rising lately, so I also suggest getting 32GB. It’s generally more than enough unless you’re doing high-end editing or streaming.

For most users today, 32GB of RAM is the sweet spot, especially for multitasking and gaming. Depending on your motherboard, you might opt for DDR4 or DDR5, and anything around 3200MHz or faster should work well.
