I'm on a really tight budget as a college student living in a developing country, where I earn about $170-$200 a month. I'm building my first PC with the following components:
- Ryzen 5 7600x
- Gigabyte B650m
- Corsair Vengeance DDR5 16GB 5600MHz
- Crucial P310 1TB
- RX 9060 XT
- MWE Gold 750 - V2
- AIGO ICE400SE
I want to allocate around $40 or $50 for the case and I won't be spending anything on case fans since I already have a mouse and keyboard. I also found an inexpensive Windows 11 key for about $4-5. I'm not too concerned about peripherals but need to know if the case really impacts PC performance. I'd love advice on making this build last at least three years without breaking the bank. Thanks!

A case mainly affects aesthetics and noise level. Sure, a decent airflow can keep your parts cooler, but the difference is often just a few degrees. You can find affordable cases with good airflow, so don’t overlook that! Also, watch out for strong smells from cheap materials, especially if you have pets!
You definitely need some case fans! If you're pinched for cash, consider leaving the case cover off for a bit until you can grab some fans. It might help to use a regular desk fan to keep things cool until then. Undervolting your 7600x can also reduce heat, which is a win.
Honestly, cases don't affect performance much. Just buy the cheapest one that fits your parts. I got a $40 case that came with four fans, and it works perfectly. Also, if you're considering RAM, try to get two sticks because it can really boost your FPS even if prices aren't the best right now.
For sure! Plus, if you can snag the 16GB version of the 9060 XT, go for it. The extra memory helps a lot!

Great point! Just keep an eye on your temps; you don't want things to overheat.
