I'm curious about how you all manage to stay updated in our fast-paced tech world. How many hours a week do you dedicate—be it during work or personal time—to staying current with new technologies and concepts? I used to invest roughly 8 hours weekly trying out new programming languages and services, but ever since I had kids and took on more responsibilities at home, it feels like I barely have any time left for that now. How do you balance staying informed with your personal and work life?

I don't spend much personal time anymore, but my job involves exploring new platforms and tools, so I'm staying current through work. It's less about dedicated hours and more about applying what I learn to my job.
I manage about 2-3 hours a week, usually an hour here and there during the evenings. It's tough to find time, but I try to squeeze it in wherever I can.
I spend about 3-4 hours a week, mainly during work hours. I love having the freedom to choose what I want to learn, which recently led me to build Kubernetes operators in Golang.
I try to make it 20+ hours a week! After the kids are asleep, I dive into my homelab projects or watch tech podcasts during my commute. I even wake up early sometimes if something's really on my mind. It's about fitting it in wherever possible.
Honestly, I hardly keep up with anything anymore. In my younger days, I made an effort, but now I prefer to spend my free time as I want. Besides, I feel my work doesn’t necessitate constant learning like it used to, especially with tech stability in some areas.
I get wanting your free time for yourself, but to say there's no point in staying updated seems a bit narrow-minded. There’s always the chance for new tools and methods that could improve your work.

Same here! Sometimes I take on interesting projects just to learn new things.
