I'm in the process of upgrading my old MSI VENTUS 3080Ti to a new MSI VANGUARD 5070Ti. The 3080Ti uses a dual 8-pin cable for power, while the 5070Ti requires a 12VHPWR connector. I have an EVGA 850 GA PSU and I'm wondering if I should buy a new cable for this or if there's an easier solution. Thanks for any advice you can share!

Check if you have any leftover PSU cables from your old setup. Nvidia often includes a cable converter in the GPU box, so you might already have what you need. Be sure to review your PSU and GPU manuals to see the options available for cable conversions.
You’ve got a few options here: 1) You could use a GPU adapter if you have one. 2) Look for an aftermarket cable that converts your 12VHPWR to two 8-pin PCIe connectors. 3) If you're considering a long-term upgrade, you might want to invest in an ATX 3.0 or 3.1 PSU for better compatibility. If you're set on keeping your current PSU, go with option 2!
Would you recommend going with the adapter or the aftermarket cable? I’m not looking to buy a new PSU at the moment, thanks!
I wish! I had to toss my spare cables when I moved, so I'm starting from scratch.
