How to Properly Burn Homemade Videos to a DVD for Xbox Playback?

I'm trying to create some fun, self-made DVDs with my own content for family and friends, but I'm having trouble getting them to play on my Xbox. I started with a Maxwell 16x DVD+R disc and used an LG Ultra Slim Portable DVD writer since my laptop doesn't have a disc drive. I dragged an mp4 file onto the disc and hit 'burn,' but it won't play. Am I missing something important? What should I do to fix this? Any tips on software or formatting I should know about would be awesome!

Have you thought about your friends' and family's devices? Not everyone has a DVD player anymore! Instead of DVDs, consider putting your content on cloud storage or USB drives. It's a bit more modern and user-friendly. If you're sticking with DVDs, CDBurnerXP is a solid option for burning video DVDs.

Haha, that’s the plan, actually. The DVDs are a gag gift! They'll get something that seems important, and years later, it’ll be a funny surprise when they find out it’s just silly videos! Thanks for the tips, though!

It sounds like you're not creating the DVD in the right format. Just burning video files won't work on an Xbox or standard DVD players because they expect a normal DVD structure with menus and titles. You might want to check out DVDStyler to help you format it correctly. It's pretty straightforward and should sort you out!

Definitely make sure your DVDs are actually formatted for playback, not just data disks. Programs like DVDStyler can help you create DVDs with the proper structure. Also, keep in mind that the Xbox might not support reading data DVDs, so formatting it specifically as a video DVD is key. Good luck!
