I recently logged out of my Gmail account on my phone and can't remember my password. I've attempted account recovery, starting with receiving a code to my phone number. Then Google asked for a code sent to the email I can't access. I picked the 'try another way' option, provided a recovery email, and confirmed it with a code I received. Now, they've informed me that they'll get back to me within 48 hours. Has anyone experienced this? Do they usually respond and allow access to the account, or is there a risk I might not get it back?

Just follow the recovery steps they've provided. It’s usually pretty straightforward, but be sure to check your recovery email regularly just in case they send you a follow-up.

Can you give more specifics on what those steps are?
