My dad's Lenovo Yoga running Windows 11 keeps showing a popup that claims the PC is infected with 18 viruses and urges immediate action to "renew Antivirus Subscription." I looked it up and it seems like a scam. How can I safely get rid of this popup, and should I do anything else to ensure the computer is secure?

I recommend using Malwarebytes to scan for adware or malware that's possibly running in the background. This could help eliminate the popup if it’s due to adware. Make sure to update your antivirus before scanning just to be sure.

What web browser are you using? This can sometimes determine how persistent the popup is. If it persists, consider switching browsers temporarily until you sort it out.

First, run a full scan with your antivirus software to check for any actual infections. It’s likely that the popup is just a scam tied to a rogue browser extension. Check your recently installed extensions and remove anything that looks suspicious. Resetting your browser settings can also help clear out any unwanted changes.
