I'm about to receive a corporate laptop as part of my severance package, and my employer is on board with this, so it's all above board. The machine is a 2020 M1 MacBook Air running Sonoma 14.3.1, and right now, it has a bunch of restrictions, like disabled USB ports and remote access software like AnyDesk.
I've heard I need to have the laptop removed from their Mobile Device Management (MDM), but I'd love to get advice on any additional software I need to be aware of and the best way to wipe the machine clean when it officially becomes mine. Any tips would be really helpful!

Once your laptop is taken off MDM, make sure to do a full restore with a clean install of macOS. If you don't, it might automatically reactivate MDM during setup, and you want to avoid that. Seriously, just wipe everything and start fresh instead of trying to pick and choose what to delete. It's the best way to ensure you're not dealing with residual software.
So a clean install will clear everything out, right? Just making sure that it gets rid of all possible unwanted stuff.
