How to Set Up Dual Booting with Two SSDs for Windows and Linux?

I've just built a new PC and I'm considering dual booting Windows and Linux. I'm thinking of using a second SSD for Linux, but I'm unsure about the risks involved compared to installing both operating systems on a single drive. I'm aware there are potential partition issues, but I'm not clear on how this would affect my setup with two SSDs. Also, if I need to reset or recover, can I restore both operating systems separately? I'm mostly looking for a pros and cons comparison to help me get started with Linux and testing.

Using separate SSDs for Windows and Linux is actually a smart move! If one OS gets corrupted or the SSD fails, the other will still be operational. Each OS will manage its own recovery points independently, so you won't lose everything in a disaster with either drive.

There aren’t many risks involved with having Windows and Linux on different SSDs. It's advisable because it minimizes the chance of accidental overwrites and protects your setup if something happens to one OS. Just make sure you know which SSD has which OS and familiarize yourself with the boot menu button on your motherboard for easy switching.

I’ve backed everything up on an external HDD and made a recovery image on a thumb drive. When you mention the boot menu button, are you referring to accessing the BIOS?
