How to Set Up Fan Curves for My New Build?

Hey everyone! I just finished building my PC with an AsRock e-ATX motherboard, an AMD 9950X3D CPU, and dual 7900XTX graphics cards. I've installed Windows and am looking for some guidance.

First off, what are some common BIOS or Windows settings you wish you had changed when you built your system?

Secondly, I'm really struggling with optimizing my fan curves. I've got 10 fans in total and three temperature sensors on my motherboard. I want to ensure they work smoothly in both Windows (where my main NVMe is) and Linux (on the other NVMe). I think I might need to adjust things in the BIOS, but I'm not entirely sure.

Just to give you an idea of my fan setup:
1. 3x 140mm fans in the front with a 3-to-1 PWM adapter connected to one case fan header.
2. 3x 120mm fans in mid-chassis using another 3-to-1 PWM adapter.
3. 2x 140mm fans for the CPU cooler connected to two separate CPU fan headers.
4. 1x 120mm fan behind the case using a PWM extension to another header.
5. 1x 140mm fan on top of the case connected similarly.

Any tips or advice would be appreciated!

You’ll want to experiment a bit. Try adjusting your fan curves to see how low your fans can run while keeping the temps in check during load. You can use an app like FanControl in Windows to play around with the settings and then apply what works best in your BIOS.

Got it! So FanControl is essentially a desktop tool for tweaking those fan curves? Also, I’m curious about the CPU fan headers—they seem to have low amp limits, so can I really only connect one fan to each header? Does one just mirror the other!

What software do you use for monitoring temps? I only see GPU temps in the system manager, not those of my CPU or the other components.
