Hey everyone! I'm in my final year studying for a Bachelor's in Computer Network and Security, focusing on Cyber Security. My dream is to become an Azure Cloud Security Engineer, but I'm not quite sure where to begin. I have limited IT experience, but I'm currently looking into online courses to brush up on networking. What certification path should I follow to achieve my goal? Also, what skills should I develop to really stand out in this field? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!

To kick off your path, I recommend starting with the AZ-900 (Azure Fundamentals) to get a handle on core Azure services. After that, the SC-900 (Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals) will give you a solid foundation in security concepts within the Microsoft ecosystem. Then aim for the AZ-104 (Azure Administrator) and finally the AZ-500 (Azure Security Engineer Associate) which directly aligns with your goal.

In addition to certificates, practical experience is key! Set up home labs or cloud environments to practice things like configuring virtual networks, firewalls, Azure AD for identity management, and using security monitoring tools. Also, gaining skills in scripting languages like PowerShell or Python, plus understanding zero trust architecture and SIEM tools like Microsoft Sentinel, will really help you stand out. Don’t forget to revisit networking basics like subnetting and routing too! A grasp of compliance frameworks like ISO 27001 or NIST can also give you an edge in the industry.
